Bar Soap
This soap is so gentle and moisturizing it's my new go-to for my face, body, and hands! I have been making this soap for our shower, fun shapes for the kids' bathroom, and getting fancy molds and adding little extras to stick in the guest bathroom or give as gifts. This recipe is just for a basic 2"x3" bar, but feel free to use any silicone mold for a fun or fancy shape and add colorant and fillers such as lavender petals or lemon zest to jazz up your own recipe. Ingredients
3 cubes soap base--we prefer goats milk (like this--can find it at most craft stores like Micheals or Hobby Lobby where you can also use their coupons for extra savings)
10 drops essential oils (my favorite combinations so far are lavender + lime for a sweet fragrance, thieves for extra cleaning power, and stress away for the sink at work).
Silicone molds (this recipe fills one of the these rectangles perfectly, but cruise Amazon for other fun shapes too--we make dinosaurs, owls, zoo animals, and Mickey Mouse heads alongside our classic bars)
Directions
Melt the soap base in the microwave for 30 seconds, then in 10 second intervals until thoroughly melted.
Add 10 drops of essential oils and stir. If you will be adding colorant (use soap colorant, not food coloring/other dyes) or extra fillers, add those at this point as well.
Pour into a silicone mold (hard plastic would make the soap pretty tough to get out)
Allow to harden for approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour (a tip: pour the soap in the mold wherever you plan to let it sit for the next hour or so--too much movement can cause unsightly air bubbles or ridges in your soap)
Wash up!
